Built by Bombardier in Montreal, these units were designed to replace the big
Alco/MLW Centuries. The High Reliability 6 axle, 16 cylinder diesels were tested
both by CN and CP, but were only purchased by CN. CN ultimately purchased 20 of
the Draper Taper equipped locomotives, and the last was retired from revenue
service in 1999.
Now they will live again in HO and N scale! CMLW announces the imminent
arrival of the MLW HR-616 in both HO and N scale. Release of the HO scale
model will be first and is scheduled to arrive concurrently with the GE C40-8CM
units. The HO scale model will come in three configurations:
Undecorated Resin Kit and DCC Ready Chassis
Undecorated Resin Kit with DCC Chassis (decoder installed)
Undecorated Resin kit with DCC and Sound
